โœฆ Synopsis

The formation of secondary products during the radioiodination of aromatic amines is reported.

Iodination of a series of N,N-dimethyl-N'-(alkylphenyl)-1,3-propanediamines with IC1 in the presence of AcOH and HClO4 gave in addition to the expected iodo derivatives substantially amounts of secondary cleavage products which were identified as the corresponding iodobenzaldehyde derivatives.

Kinetics of oxidation of thiocyanate ion (NCS-) by iodine monochloride and iodine has been studied in aqueous perchloric acid medium. The rates of oxidations followed the rate laws: Variations in ionic strength and dielectric constant of the medium had little effects on the rates of reactions with

The photodissociation of iodine monochloride following excitation at 235 nm, within its second absorption band, has been investigated further using ion imaging methods to monitor the Cl(2P~/2 ) and C1 \* (2P~/2) atomic products. The angular distributions of these products are found to be characteris
