✦ Synopsis
The FeCrAI-type alloys containing 15-20 wt.% Cr, 4.5-5.5 wt.% Al and small amounts of reactive elements, most frequently yttrium or zirconium, are the best oxidation resistant metallic materials at high temperatures. Into this group are classified together alloys which differ considerably taking into account their detailed composition, content of impurities, and microstructure. This paper discusses briefly the similarities and differences between the oxidation behaviour of FeCrAI alloys with emphasis placed on the factors which may affect the rate of their degradation.

## Abstract The superior high temperature oxidation resistance of FeCrAl alloys relies on the formation of a dense and continuous protective aluminium oxide layer on the alloy surface when exposed to high temperatures. Consequently, the aluminium content, i.e. the aluminium concentration at the all
