l-Butyl-2,3,4-tri-terr-butyl-l,3,2,4-diazadiboretidine, 4. Compound 1 (0.80 g) and butyl azide (0.39 g) were combined in 10 mL of pentane at 0 "C and the resulting solution was stirred for 30 min at room temperature. Distillative workup gave 4 (0.70 g, 65%) as a colorless liquid at 70 'C/O.Ol Torr.
