Abstract
The direct and inverse problems of electromagnetic scattering by cylindrical structures with arbitrary cross sections for Eβpolarized line sources are considered. It is shown that the method of lines gives a computationally efficient and accurate procedure for calculating the scattering amplitude. The developed procedure also enables one to determine shape of cylindrical structures form scattering amplitudes. To illustrate the procedure and its computational performance, two numerical examples are presented. Β© 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A modified method of lines is developed for solving electromagnetic scattering problems, when TM plane waves are incident on cylindrical structures with dielectric properties that are function of two spatial directions. Numerical performance of the proposed method are examined and found
The method of lines is used to sol¨e electromagnetic wa¨e scattering from a cylinder with arbitrary shapes. The computational efficiency and accuracy are much better than finite difference method and finite element method.

## Abstract A fullβwave analysis of the compositeβmetal microstrip lines is presented. The effects of the composite metal to the loss of the microstrip lines are accurately investigated, which are often avoided by other methods. The metal layers of the microstrip lines are considered as lossy inhom
