The glutathione conjugation of 2-chloro-, 3-chloro-, 4-chloro- and 2,6-dichlorobenzylidene malononitrile (chloroBMNs) was investigated in vitro. In incubation mixtures containing rat liver cytosol (9000 g), the decrease in the initial amount of glutathione due to the various chloroBMNs ranged from 4
Hexachloro-1,3-butadiene (HCBD) is more nephrotoxic to female than male rats. Metabolism of HCBD involves conjugation with glutathione followed by formation of the cysteine conjugate S-(pentachloro-1,3-butadienyl) cysteine (PCBD-CYS) and then the mercapturic acid N-acetyl-S-pentachloro-1,3-butadieny
## Abstract The involvement of sequential side‐chain oxidation, sulphation and glutathione conjugation in the formation of mercapturic acids from toluene and xylenes was investigated. It was found that not only aralkanes but also aralkyl alcohols were excreted as mercapturic acids in the rat. The e
