Picosecond lifetime and depolartiation studies of '(n, n\*) emission from trans-azobenzene ïndicate that ffuorescence ccm-. tributes substanties to the emission decay pattern. The 1 (n, n\*) state's decay time is ~25 ps, in contrast to the nanosecond Iifetïmes exhlbited by fIuorescing singlet states

✦ Synopsis
We report here the observation and measurement of the temperature dependence of the slow component in the radiative decay of the A-band emission from KBr : Pb *+ The results of these measurements together with those reported on the fast _ . components permit a complete analysis of the decay kinetics of the A-band emission. -4 model for the relaxed excited state which is consistent with analogous systems is presented.
