## Abstract The rate of the inhibited pyrolysis of pentachloroethane was studiedover the temperature range of 820 to 865Β°K using the tolueneβcarrier technique in a stirredβflow reactor. The pyrolysis rate was found to be first order in reactant, and the rate constant is described by __k__=10^11.6Β±0

β¦ Synopsis
The pyrolysis of methyl 4-hromocrotonate in the temperature range 300-340Β°C and pressure range 74-170 torr has been shown to he homogeneous, unimolecular, and to follow a first-order rate law. The reaction was carried out in a static system, seasoned with ally1 bromide, and in the presence of the radical chain exhibitor toluene. The rate coefficients are represented by the Arrhenius expression: log kl(s * ) = (13.30 t. 0.66) -(185.2 t 7.5) kJ mol '(2.303RTT'. The carbomethoxy group appears to provide anchimeric assistance in the process of dehydrobromination and lactone products formation. The partial rates for the parallel reaction have been estimated, reported, and discussed. The pyrolysis elimination is explained in terms of an intimate ion pair-type of mechanism.

## Abstract The kinetics of gasβphase decomposition of methyl isocyanate have been investigated in the range of 427β548Β°C. Two decomposition routes are followed; the predominant one is a radicalβchain process giving CO, H~2~, and HCN as major products, which has an order of 1.5 and an Arrhenius equ
