A non-linear filtration model is considered. The initial stage in the evolution of the displacement front is studied and the initial conditions are found under which the front maintains a stable form for a long time. Concentration and pressure profiles in a direction normal to the front are obtained. It is found that the concentration varies comparatively rapidly here while the pressure varies extremely slowly
