## Abstract We investigated the influence of the alkyltransferases (ATases) encoded by the __ada__ and __ogt__ genes of __Escherichia coli__ on the mutational specificity of alkylating agents. A new mutational assay for selection of __supF^‐^__ mutations in shuttle‐vector plasmids was used. Treatin
