✦ Synopsis

The kineticsof sample evaporation wasstudied for four common injection liners at various temperatures. The ratesof solvent and sample evaporation were measured. The sample distribution at the split point was probed by inserting two capillary columns in one injector. Greater homogeneity at the split point corresponded to higher precision (better correlation between the sample and internal standard peak areas). Evidence of aerosol formation using inverted cup inlet liners wasseen. Packed column precision was better than capillary precision in each case, ie., using straight split liners, inverted cup liners, and cold on-column injection. Capillary precision is best when the sample and internal standard elute close together, and may be improved by using solvents that vaporize slowly.

## Abstract It has been reported that glass wool packed tightly into the glass liner of a vaporizing injector used in the splitting mode considerably reduces the standard deviation of the results obtained, because of improved evaporation of the sample prior to reaching the split point at the capill

The discrimination of the high boiling componentsof a C9 to C44 alkane test mixture in a vaporizing injector (analysed with stream splitting on a capillary column) is mainly due to a selective elution of the sample out of the syringe needle. Different methods of handling the syringe needle are teste

## Abstract If vibrationally excited molecules are discretised into individual species and proper account is taken of the toroidal geometry in simulating neutrals, some improvement can be made in simulating the anomalous detachment behaviour seen at the outer target of TCV single‐null lower L‐mode
