β¦ Synopsis
The order-disorder type structural phase transition in the La-based cuprate superconductors and its influence on superconductivity, in particular on the isotope effect, is studied theoretically.
The temperature dependence of the susceptibility of the strong anharmonic local mode driving the structural transition gives rise to the sign change of its derivative and therefore to a jump in the isotope effect in the vicinity of the temperature of the structural phase transition.

A systematic study of the structural phase transition of NH 3 BH 3 and of its fully deuterated analogue was performed combining DSC and anelastic spectroscopy measurements. The transition is accompanied by a latent heat, and therefore is of the 1st order. On the deuterated sample the enthalpy variat
