β¦ Synopsis
An Untamed Refugee Lass, A Quiet Sailor Recently Returned, And A Manipulative Carter Set On Betrayal....
Bonnie Argyle grew up in a village near Berwick-upon-Tweed with an abusive and neglectful foster mother. When the invading English troops attack and raze the village, she is forced to flee, but not before seeing and experiencing firsthand what the soldiers can do to the innocent villagers. Finding refuge in the port town of Dunbar, Bonnie quickly finds herself in danger once again from men focused on her beauty. Doing her best to escape two such men, she is rescued by the brave Arthur Radley. Unsure if he is trustworthy, or also after her for her beauty, she does her best to get away from him as well, only to find him coming to her rescue yet again.
The fragile and wise Highland lass finds herself on the run for her life with Arthur after a surprise attack at a seemingly unused barn quickly escalates. Bandaged and bruised, Bonnie and Arthur are able to find transportation with a carter, only to realize he is not what he seemed to be at first and they must flee for their lives once again.
A Brave Rescuer
Arthur Radley has just returned from a lengthy stay on the Continent to discover his homeland in the midst of a bloody war with the English. After rescuing a beautiful lass from two drunken attackers, he does everything he can to see her out of Dunbar and to safety, and just in time, as the English mount a surprise attack on the port town and raze it soon after Arthur and Bonnie make their escape. Once he sees her settled with a farmer and his daughter, Arthur joins a band of resistance fighters making their way North, only to be attacked before getting there.
After the attack on his small band of resistance fighters, Arthur makes the decision to return to the farm, and Bonnie. However, trouble follows in the form of a cold and calculating carter they had had a run in with before. When the manipulative carter abducts Bonnie, Arthur can do nothing else but set out after them and save her once again.
A Love So Patient
After being rescued from danger once again by Arthur, Bonnie is returned to the relative safety and quiet of the Hume family farm. There they are able to quietly repair the friendship growing between them, and allow it to deepen to something further. Life, and love, will not be easy for an untamed Highland lass used to independence and a recently returned Lowland sailor thrust into the uncertain dangers of a war with their English neighbors.
Can Bonnie learn to trust a manβor will her past abuse destined her to a life alone?
