✦ Synopsis

Isovaline (I) is of considerable interest cosmologically in that (1) it is one of the twelve non-protein amino acids which have been isolated from the Murchison meteorite* and (2) unlike the other chiral amino acids in this meteorite, it has no ahydrogen at its asymmetric center and hence cannot racemize by the customary ahydrogen dependent mechanisms which engender racemization in ordinary amino acids'.

## Abstract The Debije‐Scherrer diagram of “natural” L(+)‐muscarine‐di‐__p__‐toluyl‐hydrogen‐D(−)‐tartrate‐hemihydrate is compared with the diagrams of muscarine‐di‐__p__‐toluyl‐hydrogen‐D(−)‐tartrates resulting from the resolution of two DL‐muscarine preparations. One of the latter diagrams proved

Fused-silica capillary columns were evaluated for the resolution of oxidized cholesterol derivatives. Thermal instability of diol derivatives, epimeric 7~ and 7fl-hydroxy, 4&hydroxy, and 25-hydroxycholesterol, was observed during gas chromatography. After derivatization as trimethylsilyl ethers the

Some toxaphene congeners are thermally unstable under commonly used gas chromatographic temperature conditions. The thermal stability of the 22 commercially available congeners has been studied at four different heating rates on four stationary phases Ultra 2 (5%-diphenyl-95%-dimethylpolysiloxane),
