✦ Synopsis

The resistive and capacitative components of impedances at metal/solid, metal/molten-salt and metal/aqueous-solution interfaces normally vary inversely as some power of the ac frequency. Reasons are advanced for a generalized treatment of the problem rather than the separated approaches of Jaffk and succeeding workers for solids, and Grahame and others for electrolytes. Some data for metal/molten-salt impedances are examined by both the above methods.
