✦ Synopsis
Launched in January 2001, the journal Fuel Cells ± From Fundamentals to Systems has experienced a rapid development ever since. Fuel Cells has been the first and only scientific journal, encompassing all types of fuel-cell research from fundamental research to applied engineering. Providing a platform for the exchange of results in this diverse interdisciplinary field, Fuel Cells has successfully complemented the existing ªbulletin-typeº magazines that address a more management-or business-oriented readership. Fuel Cells stands for the publication of top-quality research results and has gained broad visibility and acceptance among the scientific community, which is mirrored by great increases in both submitted and published articles. The total numbers of pages that were published in 2004 and 2005 increased by 72% and 31%, respectively. Authors from 23 countries have contributed papers to the journal from the very beginning. To account for this encouraging development, we are proud to announce an increase in the annual publication frequency from 4 to 6 issues effective from 2006. Before, however, further envisaging the future, please join us in reviewing the latest developments of Fuel Cells.
In parallel to the increase in published articles in general, more and more contributions have been accessed online on the Fuel Cells homepage in Wiley InterScience (www.fuelcells.wiley-vch.de): In the period January through November 2005, full-text downloads to the PDF versions of complete articles increased by 40% as compared to the whole of 2004. The five most downloaded articles during these first eleven months were (downloads: January through
