โฆ Synopsis
The far-ultraviolet spectra of the series of fluorine-substituted ethytenes were measured between 2000 and 1lSOk The main features of the spectra are a 8+ -n band whose peculiar shifting is discussed. a band which seems to be analogous to the @-?r "mystery band" of oiefins and Rydberg series.

The electronic spectra of crystalline films of methane, ethane and propane were measured from 2000 to 1150 A at liquid air or liquid nitrogen temperature. The spectra are compared tc the relating gas phase spectra and the effects of the crystalline environment are discussed although no definite conc
