A new method is described which is applicable to the determination of overall formation constants of complexes which show irreversible reduction at the dropping mercury electrode. Values of the formation constants for the six species produced by the interaction between the NiZ+ ion and pyramle are r

✦ Synopsis
The polarographic characteristics of the nickel(H) ion in the presence of six heterocyclic species are reported; although slight mechanistic differences exist in reduction behaviour between members of the pyridine and pyrazole series, they share the common feature that the rate-determining step involves two electrons. This contrasts with other systems, notably water, imidazole and ethylenediamine, for which the transfer of one electron is rate-determining. Distinct correlations between polarographic and spectroscopic parameters exist depending upon the nature of the electrochemical rate-determining step.

Two catalytic prewaves are unambiguously resolved. The catalytic character of both prewaves has been shown using different criteria, although the second prewave has also a small diffusive character. The surface nature of the prewaves is also demonstrated.
Classical DC-polarography and fast scan differential pulse voltammetry (FSDPV) were applied to study the reduction mechanism of five nitropesticides (trifluralin, benfluralin, pendimethalin, bromofenoxim, fluoroglycofen-ethyl) at a dropping mercury electrode (DME) and at a static mercury drop electr
The reduction of indium at the dropping mercury electrode in sodium nitrate and sodium perchlorate solutions has been studied. The reduction is diffusion controlled but the process is not reversible. The kinetic parameters a and k, have been calculated by Gelling's method. The k, was found to be of
