✦ Synopsis


The effects of a bombardment on carbonitrides produced by nitrogen implantation in a low carbon steel are studied through the conversion electron M6ssbauer spectroscopy technique. The results" show that the thermal behaviour of the carbonitrides is strongly affected by the presence of helium particles in the nitrogen-implanted region. In addition, low-dose helium implantation (10 I~ a cm-:) already produces dissolution and reprecipitation of e-Fe~2(C N) into F~+x(C, N) (x < 1) precipitates.
