β¦ Synopsis
The clemcntar) theory of electrical images m,ry be extended to include the concept of linear dynamic polarizability of the image of an .~rom. I-our different applications are proposed: they allow us to find easily the long-range expressions of the physisorprion energy for one and for tso atoms and of the electric polarization and polarizability of an atom near a solid surface.
