✦ Synopsis

An aqueous extract of Cynomorium coccineum was administered by stomach tube to ten mature male Wistar rats, at a dose of 47 mg/100 kg body weight/day for 14 consecutive days. Ten rats were kept as controls and received normal saline by oral route at the same dosing interval. Sperm was collected from the epididymes after decapitation. The results revealed that the water extract of the Cynomorium coccineum induced significant increase in the sperm count, improved the percentage of live sperm and their motility and decreased the number of abnormal sperm. Testicular histology showed increased spermatogenesis and seminiferous tubules full of sperm in the treated group compared with the controls. Copyright

Morphologic and morphometric sperm characteristics of mouse epididymal extracts from animals exposed to static magnetic fields were evaluated. For this purpose, animals were exposed for 35 days to a field of 0.7 T generated by a commercial permanent magnet for either 1 or 24 h per day. The values of

The aqueous extract of Brickellia veronicaefolia inhibited gastric emptying time in rats and intestinal motility in mice, both effects were manifested in a dose-related fashion. The crude extract inhibited the contractions induced by acetylcholine and histamine concentration-dependently in the guine

The effects of different extracts of Cktus populifolius L. on smooth muscle were studied. The aqueous extract inhibited in a dose dependent manner the noradrenaline (NA) (10-'-1.03 X M) and CaCI, (2 X 10-4-l.28 X lo-' M)-induced contractions in rat thoracic aorta. Furthermore, this extract induced r
