The influence of tri-and di-alkyltins (TATs and DATs) as well as di-and triphenyltin compounds (DPhTs and TPhTs) on haemolysis of red blood cells (RBCs) and stability of planar lipid membranes (PLMs) has been studied. The results obtained show that the efficiency of TATs (trimethyl-, triethyl-, tri-

β¦ Synopsis
The efflux of dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) from liposomes formed from egg phosphatidylcholine (EPC) is increased when tributyltin chloride (TBT) is added to the extraliposomal compartment; however the addition of monobutyltin trichloride (MBT) slows down the efflux. When the liposomes are prepared from EPC and organotin compounds, different mechanisms for DMA efflux seem to operate: TBT-EPC liposomes show a mixture of facilitated and passive diffusion; MBT-EPC liposomes show only passive diffusion. The facilitated diffusion of DMA Οͺ seems to be stopped by the addition of TBT to the extraliposomal compartment.

The temperature dependence of 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) and 1-(44rimethylaminophenyl)d-phenyl-l,3,5-hexatriene (TMA-DPH) fluorescence anisotropy has been studied to investigate the influence of mono-n-butyltin chloride (MBTC), di-n-butyltin chloride (DBTC) and tri-n-phenyl chloride (TPTC)
Organometallic compounds and surfactants constitute a potential threat to the environment. For that reason we have embarked on a study of their joint action on membranes. Model lecithin liposome membranes were modified with the cationic surfactant trimethyldodecylammonium bromide or the anionic surf
The effects of diphenyltin dichloride (DPhT), triphenyltin chloride (TPhT) and tetraphenyltin (TTPhT) on the thermotropic phase behaviour of phosphatidylcholine bilayers were studied. All the phenyltin compounds investigated affected phase transitions differently. TTPhT broadened the main phase tran
Several derivatives of 1,3,5-triazine (eg atrazine, prometryn) are eΓΎ ective herbicides and have been extensively used in agriculture. A study of prometryn (Prom)-phospholipid (PL), with different charges, was carried out by means of calorimetric and spectroscopic techniques. The Promdipalmitoylphos
Two sets of organotin compounds, that is, one having dibutyl and the other dioctyl groups each with a varying length of a carboxyl group attached to a tin atom, were studied as catalysts for the polycondensation of room temperature vulcanization of hydroxyfunctional polydimethylsiloxane (HOPDMS). Th
