The transition temperature of [Fe@hen)z(NCS)z ] measured by susceptibility measurements in an applied tield of 1 T shifts by -0.11 f 0.04 K when the field is increased to 55 T. This shift is predicted on the basis of the known magnetic susceptibility and specific heat data.

✦ Synopsis
Theeffect oflow pressure @= 150 bar) on the high-spin (HS)-lowrpin (LS) transition in [Fe_,Znl__~(2-pic)~] Cl,-E1OH (x = OS, 1.0) was measured by Mkbauer spectroscopy and the results compared with theory. The linear dependence of the volume of the lattice on the HS fraction, which is the basic assumption of the theory, was proven by temperaturedependent X-ray measurements.

A new model for the first-order transitions between the low-spin and high-spin phases of molecular crystals of some transition metal complexes is proposed. Tbe abrupt spin transitions (or those exhibiting thermal hysteresis) are attributed to first-order transitions between the different crystal pha
A series of the d 6 iron(I1) complexes with bulky organic ligands (like [ Fe(bzpy),(NCS),]) can exist in two spin forms: in the low-spin ( S = 0) form at low temperature and in the high-spin ( S = 2) form at high temperature. In the crystal phase, the transition between these two forms may be either
