✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The amounts of S‐ and R‐glucans in the mycelium of Aspergillus giganteus mut. alba depend on light within the range of selected light intensities: 0 W Β· m^βˆ’2^; 3 W Β· m^βˆ’2^; 10.6 W Β· m^βˆ’2^ at 20% glucose concentration in the nutrient medium. This species synthetises the highest amount of S‐glucans at the light intensity 10.6 W Β· m^βˆ’2^, and that of R‐glucans – at the intensity 3 W Β· m^βˆ’2^.

From the mycelia of Aspergillus giganteus mut. alba grown in light and darkness two fractions of glucans were extracted. One of them was purified and characterized by its alkali-solubility and enzymatic degradation as polymer of b-D-glucose.

In previous studies it was shown that the concentration of total and individual glucosinolates in brassicaceous plants can vary signiÐcantly over a 24-h period grown either in the Ðeld or under controlled conditions. The present study shows total and individual glucosinolate variation during a singl
