โฆ Synopsis
This paper addresses the effect of the interstage heat leakage on the thermal performance of multistage flash (MSF) evaporators which have been arranged in multiple tiers.
It is shown that the adverse impact of this effect can be neglected because the vapor contacting the interstage partition of a double-deck design acts as an insulator for this heat;leakage path.

Axial conduction is a major source of inefficiency in a compact counterflow heat exchanger. Any attempt to reduce axial conduction by using material of low thermal conductivity for the separating wall results in increased resistance to lateral heat flow, thereby reducing the overall thermal efficien
