✦ Synopsis

Standard heterogeneous electron transfer rates for the one-electron reductions of 1,4-benzoquinone, 1,Cnaphthoquinone and 9,lkmthraquinone in acetonitrile solution were measured at Pt, Au and graphite electrodes by rapid scan cyclic vollammetric methods Observed values of the order, k. _ 0.5 cm s-' are CornDared with conflictinn earlier results. The quinone reactions conformed with the criteria necessary fo; simple electron tra&fer of the Marcus theory.

The electrochemistry of solutions of lithium bromide and bromine in acetonitrile has been investigated in the temperature range from 0 to 3O"C, using a platinum rotating disk working electrode from 200 to 2000 rpm. Both the anodic and cathodic current/voltage curves are characterized by two well-de

## Abstract The effect of pressure on the oxidation of hydroarenes **3**–**9** with 2,3‐dichloro‐5,6‐dicyano‐1,4‐quinone (DDQ; **1 a**) or __o__‐chloranil (**10**), leading to the corresponding arenes, has been investigated. The activation volumes were determined from the pressure dependence of the
