✦ Synopsis


The changes which occur in the electrical conductivity of Saran carbon rods with the adsorption of both polar and non-polar molecules have been measured. No relationship between the polarity of the adsorbed molecule and the electrical conductivity of the adsorbent was found. An attempt has been made to explain these observed changes on the basis of MROZOWSKI'S electronic model of conduction in carbons. Saran carbon appears to have a much lower activation energy for conduction than that predicted by MROZOWSKI for carbons of similar crystallite dimension.
