The reactions of O(3P) atoms with allene and mcthylacetylcne: 0 + CH2=C=CHL 5 CO +C2HG, a@ = -119.4 kcal/mole, 0 + CH3-GCH 2 CO + C,E&,, 44 = -1!7.8 kcd/mole were studied at 293 K with a CO kser resonant absorption and ZI dischzqe-flow CC-sampling method. The CO formed in rcacrion (1) wax ibund to have a vibrational temperature of.5100 5 100 K, compared with 2400 + 200 Kin (1). The good agreement between the observed CO vibrational distributions and those predicted by simple statislical models indic=ltes that the reaction energies were completely randomized_ The present results also showed 1Inumbiguously that CH3CH, instead of CzH4, was produced initially in reaction (2).
