โœฆ Synopsis

The frequency response of a small steam-jacketed, water-Nled pan with thick walls is investigated. Experimental data compare well with predicted data obtained from both distributed and lumped parameter systems.

It is shown that the effect of the jacket wall must be included in the theoretical treatment and that a lumped parameter approximation can be used to predict with reasonable accuracy the frequency response of this type of equipment up to phase changes of about 160".

The mechanical behaviour of a thick-walled carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) structure has been investigated at room and cryogenic temperatures. Important cryogenic material properties like the interlaminar shear strength, the ultimate tensile strength, strain and modulus, and the fatigue behav
