Abstract

The members of the Documentation Ring have chosen the “punched picture” method for coding of chemical and pharmaceutical literature. Chemical, biochemical, and medical facts gleaned from a publication are broken down into basic concepts, each of which is allocated a certain position on the punched card. This system has proved to be reliable over a period of twelve years.
