✦ Synopsis

The infrared spectrum of the AsO radical in its ({ }^{2} \mathrm{Il}) ground state has been measured using a diode laser spectrometer. Rovibrational transitions of the fundamental and a number of hot bands were measured in both ({ }^{2} \Pi_{3 / 2}) and the ({ }^{2} I_{1 / 2}) substates to an estimated accuracy of (\pm 0.001 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}). These data allowed the accurate determination of a set of molecular parameters for AsO. which includes. for the first time. the (A)-doubling parameter and several higher-order parameters. Raman and infrared spectra of 2-aminobenzotrifluoride, in the liquid phase, and single vibronic level fluorescence (SVLF) spectra, in a supersonic jet, have been recorded and assigned to give an almost complete set of fundamental vibration wavenumbers in \(S_{0}\). In the SVLF spectrum, the assignme
