## Abstract The heterogeneous hydrolysis of secondary cellulose acetate has been investigated in aqueons solutions of acids and acid salt mixtures. A marked anionic effect occurs with neutral salts increasing the rate of reaction but the lyotropie series is arranged in the opposite order to that re
