โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A simple routine procedure for the determination of the surface area of 'powders by means of lowโ€temperature adsorption isotherms is described with full experimental and and mathematical detail. A method of interpretation has been formulated permitting the elimination of the โ€œdeadspaceโ€ determination for routine procedure where the substance is known to give an Sโ€shaped isotherm.

In our previous papers [Tรณth, J., et al., J. It may occur in practice that the nitrogen isotherm should be measured at 77 K only in order to determine the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area [as(N2, 77)]. This fact has given cause for an elaborate method to calculate the value of as(N2, 77) from Type I isotherms measured on any

## Abstract A method which allows the rapid and accurate determination of specific surface area for materials from a single point on the nitrogen adsorption isotherm is described. The calculation is made from a single adsorption point which can lie almost anywhere on the isotherm. The method does n
