✦ Synopsis

A procedure for selecting samples to use in multivariate calibration, inspired by a paper by Zemroch, is proposed. The method developed is designed for multicollinear data and is based on cluster analysis. It selects among available spectra the samples to submit to chemical analysis and calibration. The method is tested on an example from NIR spectroscopy of biscuit dough pieces.

## Abstract Near‐infrared reflectance analysis was used to measure protein and moisture contents of UK wheat samples over five harvests (1975–1979 inclusive). The use of universal constants produced stable instrument calibrations valid for both hard and soft varieties and all growing locations in t
