✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Based on the conventional microstrip antenna, a broadband circularly polarized microstrip antenna fed by electromagnetism coupling is designed, which is composed of three substrates. The frequency band is broadened not only, but also the circular polarization axial ratio is effectively improved. Then four such cells are constructed to a circularly polarized array. Through calculating and testing, the 14.4% and 39.65% (VSWR < 2) bandwidth and 8.34% and 21.4% 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth are achieved, respectively. Such circularly polarized array can be used extensively in communications field. Β© 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
