โฆ Synopsis
The mechanism of solid solution decomposition within the chemical spinodal boundary was investigated for the tungsten-chromium system. Two alloys were solution treated, quenched, and aged at various temperatures inside the chemical spinodal boundary. It was concluded from X-ray and metallographic evidence that tungsten-chromium alloys do not decompose by a spinodal mechanism. The decomposition process was found to be one of nucleation and growth. This observation is in agreement with Cahn's(*' theory of the effect of strain energy on the occurrence of spinodal decomposition.

DE LA SOLUTION SOLIDE TUNGSTENE-CHROME On Qtudie le mecanisme de decomposition de solution solide dans le joint spinodal chimique pour le systeme tungstene-chrome. On soumet deux alliages 8, des traitements de mise en solution, de trempe, et de vieillissement a diverses temperatures dans le joint spinodal chimique. Les rayons X et la metallographie permettent de conolure que les alliages tungstene-chrome ne se decomposent pas par un mecanisme spinodal. Le prooessus de decomposition est un processus de nucleation et croissance. Cette observation est en accord avec la theorie de Cahnc4' concernant l'effet de l'energie de deformation sur l'intervention de la decomposition spinodale. DIE ENTMISCHUNG VON WOLFRAM-CHROM-LEGIERUNGEN Der Mechanismus der Legierungsentmischung innerhalb der chemisohen spinodalen Grenze wurde im System Wolfram-Chrom untersucht. Zwei Legierungen wurden vorbehandelt, abgeschreckt und bei Temperaturen innerhalb der chemischen spinodalen Grenze angelassen. Aus R8ntgen-und metallo-graph&hen Beobachtungen wurde gefolgert, dal.3 Wolfram-Chrom-Legierungen sioh nicht nach einem spinodalen Mechanismus entmischen. Der Entmischungsprozess besteht aus Keimbildung und Wachstum. Diese Beobachtung ist in Ubereinstimmung mit Cahn s ' 14) Theorie des Einflusses der Verzerrungsenergie auf das Auftreten spinodaler Entmischung.
