✦ Synopsis
Within the framework of the transverse spin À 1 2 Ising model and by using the effective field theory with a probability distribution technique that accounts for the self-spin correlations, we have studied the critical properties of the Ba x Sr 1Àx TiO 3 system. In particular, we have studied the polarization as function of both the temperature T and the Ba concentration x, the critical temperature T c ðxÞ as function of x, and also the dielectric susceptibility wðT; xÞ for different values of the strength of the applied electric field E.
