## Abstract Using a groupβtheoretical approach, constitutive tensors for a new material composed of omega particles embedded in a ferrite are calculated and discussed. The analysis of the tensors is based on the decomposition of them into simplier forms. A comparison of these tensors with the known

β¦ Synopsis
Chiroplasmas and chiroferrites were originally theoretically conceptualized as media which combine the properties of isotropic chiral media with those of dielectricrmagnetic gyrotropic media. We clarify here a problem concerning the correct characterization of such media through their frequency-domain constituti¨e relations. Furthermore, we show that a homogenized composite medium with isotropic chiral and gyrotropic component media is considerably more complicated than en¨isioned: chiroplasmas and chiroferrites must be bianisotropic, combining gyrotropic dielectricrmagnetic with gyrotropic-like magnetoelectric properties.

## Conclusions The suitability of radial microstrip and slot-line stubs for the realization of broadband microstrip-to-slot-line transitions has been demonstrated. A simple procedure has been utilized to estimate the length of the slot-line radial stub for which an analytic model is still lacking.
