Recently, potentiometric detection has been used in CE systems: Kappes et al. (1997), Kappes and Hauser (1998) and Schnierle et al. (1998) determined cations and anions with 'coated wire' liquid membrane electrodes; our group used 'coated wire' electrodes with conducting polymers as the coating material for the determination of organic acids with CE (Poels and Nagels, 1999a, b). An example of such an application is shown in Fig. 1.
