โœฆ Synopsis

I NT'R 0 1) U C T I 0 N THE TWENTIETH anniversary of the discovery of the chemical shift phenomenon is commemorated in a short historical review. Attention is then focused on the variety ofchemical shift definitions in present use and a full analysis is given.of the differences and inconsistencies between these. A self consistent set of chemical shift definitions is proposed.

## Abstract A protonโ€chemicalโ€shiftโ€based temperature imaging method, called chemical shift selective phase mapping, is proposed. The technique uses frequencyโ€selective suppression to provide frequency selectivity to the phase mapping method. Separate imaging of the phase distributions of the water

The hybrid technique of projection-reconstruction echo-planar (PREP) imaging for obtaining chemical-shift images is demonstrated experimentally using a fluorine sample. The technique which is a variation on echo-planar imaging (EPI) relies on a multipass procedure. It is nevertheless quite efficient
