β¦ Synopsis
A prediction model for turbulent diffusion flames is presented and applied to H2-air-diffusion flames and in particular to the calculation of mean radical concentrations. The fast shuffle reactions in the H2-ah'reaction system are assumed to be in partial equilibrium, whereas the three-body recombination reactions are treated kinetically. These assumptions lead to a two variable formalism which allows the calculation of nonequilibrium values of radicals. It is shown that these values differ considerably from calculations obtained with equilibrium assumptions. The results of the calculations compare favourably with measurements of mean OH concentrations by .

A statistical criterion for the classification of gaseous mixing regimes is presented. It is based on the evaluation of two quantities: the mixing layer thickness and the separation distance between two neighboring interface segments, which are preliminarily defined in a specific section along with
A physical model is presented for the prediction of the turbulent diffusion flame. In this model the turbulence is represented by differential equations for its kinetic energy and dissipation, equilibrium chemical reaction without intermediates is assumed, standard relations for the thermodynamic pr
Simultaneous measurements of the fluctuation of flow velocity, temperature, and pogitive ion concentration are made in a turbulent round jet diffusion flame. Probability density function, correlation, spatial scale, and convective velocity are obtained with the object of getting a better understandi
