✦ Synopsis

The attachment of the flame sheet to the carbon surface is studied in a carbon combustion model where the heterogeneous reactions 2C,,, + Or + 2C0 and Ccsj + CO2 + 2C0 and the homogeneous reaction 2C0 + 0, + 2C0, occur in a stagnation flow field. When the flame sheet attaches to the carbon surface, the governing equations become homogeneous. The surface constraining conditions for each species must be built, taking into account the consumption or production of the species not only by the heterogeneous reactions but also by the homogeneous reaction occurring at the carbon surface. The rebuilt surface constraining conditions differ from the conditions to be imposed when the flame sheet forms away from the carbon surface. The field becomes identical with that of a model where only the heterogeneous reaction Co) + 0, -+ CO, takes place.
