✦ Synopsis
In 60Co-irradiated alkane/CCld glasses, the precursor to the positive ion band at 470 nm is a band at 366 nm. In pulse-irradiated 3-methylpentane/CC14 glasses at 75 K, this band is shifted to 370 nm. On the basis of electron scavenging experiments involving Ccl4 and NzO we assign this 370 nm band to Ccl;.
