β¦ Synopsis
The aquation reaction of M(NHJSOHR3' cations (M = Co, Rh and R = CH3, C2H5) has been investigated by kinetic techniques. The kinetic parameters for the substitution of the coordinated alcohol molecule by water, when compared with those for the waterexchange reaction (R = H), confirm the previous suggestion that an associative interchange mechanism is operating in the substitution reactions of pentaamminerhodium(IH) compounds.
