✦ Synopsis

Under conditions, where two anodic current regions, I, and I,, were distinct in the Tafel plots of the iron electrode, the reaction orders with respect to pH were determined. rn solutions containing chloride or bromide, pH cu 3-5, the reaction order for I,(p,,,,) was close to I. while that for IL(pzy,,) assumed positive or negative values or even values changing from positive to negative over the pH-range. The numerical Talues were small, 02-O-3. Only lightly cold-worked

The process of ion transfer in passivating film on iron containing high concentrations of mobile protons are investigated in acid sulfate solutions by virtue of chronoamperometric, capacity and ellipsometric methods. On this base some non-stationary phenomena on passive iron are explained.

The effect of addition of thiourea on the kinetics of anodic dissolution and cathodic reaction on copper and iron in acidic sulfate solutions has been studied using potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The results obtained in the presence of thiourea indicate that it has a very strong influenc
