A pure gas inlet system is described. The problems associated with the maintenance of gas purity in an ion-pumped system are discussed generally. Mass spectral data for the ambients due to admission of pure oxygen and water vapour are presented; and the use of a computer program for converting the m

After sorption or oxidation, the exe-emission increases again. It is concluded that the process which supplies the exo-electrons with energy is unknown and the experimental data indicate that the thermally stimulated exe-electron emission cannot be described either by nonstationary thermionic emission or by accelerating electric fields in consequence of charging of the surface.
