✦ Synopsis

This last issue of 1995 features many of the finalists of the 2nd Annual Dr. John Asarkof Residency Essay Writing Contest. I experience extreme satisfaction in witnessing the enthusiastic participation of optometry residents throughout North America for this worthy project. The contest has gained much interest and notoriety with almost triple the number of manuscripts submitted from the previous year. I appreciate the guidance and encouragement that the residency program directors provided to their residents.

I am especially indebted to the four independent referees who spent countless evenings and weekends judging manuscripts for the contest. Thanks to Dr.
