The title compound, [Cu(NCS) 2 (C 5 H 5 N) 4 ], is a mononuclear copper(II) complex. The Cu II atom, lying on an inversion center, is six-coordinated by four pyridine N atoms and by another two N atoms of two thiocyanate anions in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry.

The crystal structure of the title copper(II) complex, [Cu(NCS) 2 (C 5 H 5 N) 4 ], shows a tetragonally distorted octahedral coordination about the central copper(II) ion. The Cu ion lies at a site with 1 symmetry.
