✦ Synopsis
Molecules of the title complex, [SmTb(C~12~H~9~O~2~)~6~(C~12~H~8~N~2~)~2~]·2C~3~H~7~NO, are centrosymmetric with equal disorder of the Sm and Tb atoms. Each Sm^III^ and Tb^III^ ion is nine-coordinate. The Sm and Tb atoms have a distorted monocapped square-antiprismatic coordination geometry. The molecules are linked into a chain by C—H...O and C—H...π hydrogen bonds parallel to the a axis, and into a sheet by C—H...π hydrogen bonds parallel to the (100) plane. The combination of the chains and sheets generates a three-dimensional framework structure.
