✦ Synopsis

Gaseous ion mobility data are used to test theorcticai potentials for H?j + He at large separation distances. Agreement with ab initio calculations is good, but significant discrepancy with recent dhtomics-m-molecules calculations is found. Mobility data are also used to calculate the spherically-averaged Hz + He potential, which is compared with H; + He and an ab initio H*+ He calculation.

Measurements of absolute integral total

The integral total collision cross section for tie H 2 has been measured with an absolute accuracy of -+ 1% to -+4% between 0.14 meV and 2.9 eV. The data have been fitted by a spherical symmetric multiparameter Morse-splinedispersion potential, which agrees well with results of ab initio calculation

The energy of He/H2 in its pound state is calculated in an abminitio way using the IEPA PNO method for three different H-H distances, three different angles and for distances between He and the midpoint of H2 racging from 3 to 2000. A van der Waals minimum of ==21"K is found for the linear arrangem

The semi-classical coupled wavepacket method is used to investigate the dissociative charge exchange reaction He+ +H2( IJ= O-4 ) +He + H + H+ and the vibronic excitation reaction He+ + H2( v= O-4) +He+ + Hz (u' ) . The center of mass collision energy ranges from 2 to 10 eV. The cross sections strong
