✦ Synopsis
Dedicated to Professor Bernt Krebs on the occasion of his 70th birthday
There are two classes of well known T-symmetric complexes, in which four octahedrally coordinated metal ions are located in the apices of a tetrahedron, and each of the six edges are bridged by linear C 2 -symmetric bis(bidentate) chelators (L 1 ) 2À and (L 2 ) 4À . In [Cs&{Fe II Fe III 3 (L 1 ) 6 }] (1), [1] [M 1 &-{Fe III 4 (L 1 ) 6 }] + (2; M 1 = NH 4 + , K + , Cs + ), [1] and [R 4 N&-{M 2 4 (L 2 ) 6 }] 11À (3; M 2 = Fe 3+ , Ga 3+ ), [2] a cation is endohedrally encapsulated in the center of the tetrahedron, whereas in the complexes [M 1 4 {M 3 4 (L 1 ) 6 }] (4) (M 1 = NH 4
